What is a rent receipt?
A rent receipt is written proof that a tenant has paid what they owe. It records the rent, the service charges as a separate line, and the period the payment covers. For the tenant it is reassurance; for the landlord it is a record that closes the door on disputes.
Why it matters more than it looks
A payment without a receipt is only half settled: the money has moved, but nothing states what it covered. This is where most month-end arguments start (rent, charges, or both?). A clear receipt removes the ambiguity and, issued every time, builds a payment rhythm that itself reduces rent arrears.
Automating receipts
Handwritten receipts get lost; forgotten ones cause conflict. Automatic rent receipts are generated the moment a payment is recorded and dropped into the tenant’s own space, dated and itemised, with no template to fill.
