How a condominium works
In a condominium the building is split into units (apartments, premises) held by different owners. Attached to each unit is a share of the common areas (lobby, roof, lift, courtyard). Those common areas are managed together, which calls for rules, a budget and collective decisions.
The people in a condominium
Three roles shape condominium life: the owners, who vote decisions at the general meeting; the building manager, who executes and runs things day to day; and the residents (owner-occupiers or tenants) who live in the building.
Digitising the condominium
Tracking service charges, maintenance and communication generates a lot of admin. A condo management tool centralises buildings, units, charges and maintenance, and quickly becomes indispensable once you manage multiple buildings.
